Darlene Pope
Darlene Pope graduated in 1980 from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC with a BS degree in Physical Therapy.
Darlene began her career with a private practice in High Point, NC where she provided services in a variety of settings including an outpatient office, acute care hospitals, nursing homes, and an orthopedist’s office. She relocated to Simpsonville in 1987 with her husband, Larry. Darlene was employed at Hillcrest Hospital for 3 years where she was the Department Manager followed by 12 years at VBS Physical Therapists. During her tenure at VBS, Darlene was the Clinic Manager of the Simpsonville office and became a junior partner in 1996. After VBS was acquired by Matrix Rehabilitation, she became the Clinical Operations Manager of 5 VBS/Matrix facilities. Darlene received the SC Clinic Manager of the Year award in 2000.
The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties certified Darlene as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy in June, 2004. This certification program was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in orthopaedic physical therapy.
In addition to general orthopedics, Darlene specializes in continence training, vestibular rehabilitation, TMJ dysfunction, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis. She also has extensive Industrial Rehabilitation experience and was instrumental in developing on-site Physical Therapy Services at a large manufacturing plant.
Darlene is active in local church and community activities. She is a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church and was an Ambassador with the Simpsonville Chamber of Commerce for 6 years. She has served on the Chamber Board of Directors for a total of 9 years as VP of Membership and Secretary. Professionally, Darlene is a member of the SC Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association-Orthopedic Section. She was appointed to the State Physical Therapy Licensing Board by Govenor Mark Sanford in 2004.
Darlene brings her expertise and experience to the practice of Sports Spine & Industrial Physical Therapy as a full partner. She practices at the Simpsonville location where she has developed many close professional relationships with the medical and business community.
